Shuttered and Poured Concrete
Our expert team can create waterproof features using this tried and tested method
This is the standard method of creating concrete bases and structures for many building and construction projects and is an alternative to our sprayed concrete service. Concrete needs to be poured into a framework to create and maintain the desired shape until curing has occurred. This can be achieved in a number of ways, the most common being by the use of timber shutters.
Timber Shuttering
Timber shuttering is preferred for complex work and with the ability to create timber shutters on-site, it can be easily customized to any requirement. It can be used for horizontal and vertical structures and can be used in combination with steel supports. The timber shutters in contact with the poured concrete is the 'form lining', supporting timbers are called 'bracings' which are straight and strong supports to help retain shape and support the large loads. The form lining must be secured properly to prevent wet concrete form leaking out during the curing time so it is important to ensure it is carried out by professionals like Spared Concrete Solutions.
Other types of formwork we use
A well as the typical timber shuttering used we also use a variety of forming techniques. Some of these systems and techniques are listed below:
ENGINEERED FORMWORK SYSTEM.
This consists of prefabricated modules with a steel or aluminium frame for concrete to be applied to.
Advantages - speed of construction, strength, longevity.
RE-USABLE PLASTIC FORMWORK.
Interlocking and modular systems used for simple concrete structures.
Advantages - Lightweight, robust, low cost.
PERMANENT INSULATED FORMWORK.
These concrete forms are constructed on-site and remain in place after the concrete has cured.
Advantages - speed, strength, superior insulation properties.
STAY-IN-PLACE STRUCTURAL FORMWORK SYSTEMS.
Prefabricated fibre-reinforced plastic forms, moulded to create hollow tubes often used for for columns and piers
Remains in place after curing creating extra reinforcement
Advantages - Protects new concrete against the environment, strength.
FLEXIBLE FORMWORK.
Lightweight, high strength sheets of fabric that allow for liquid concrete to form interesting shapes
Advantages - Cost saving, lightweight, flexible
